Olumo Rock

This ancient granite outcrop rises 137 metres / 449 feet above the surrounding cityscape of Abeokuta - its name meaning 'God moulded this' in Yoruba. The rock served as a natural fortress for the Egba people during the internecine Yoruba wars of the 19th century, providing shelter, strategic height advantage, and spiritual protection. Families lived in rock caves for years during sieges, and the rock is credited with saving the Egba people from destruction. An elevator and stepped pathways allow visitors to ascend to the summit, which offers sweeping views across Abeokuta, the Ogun River, and the surrounding hills. Olokemeji Forest Reserve
Olokemeji, Ogun StateThe Olokemeji Forest Reserve is one of Nigeria's oldest and most scientifically important protected forests.
