Agulu Lake

The lake is the habitat of the critically endangered Sclater's guenon (Cercopithecus sclateri) - a monkey found almost nowhere else on earth. The lake and its surrounding forest are protected by local traditional taboos that have proven remarkably effective at conserving the ecosystem. Ogbunike Cave

The cave is considered sacred by local communities and an annual festival celebrates its spiritual significance. Igbo-Ukwu Archaeological Site
Igbo-Ukwu, Aguata LGA, AnambraIgbo-Ukwu is one of the most significant archaeological sites in sub-Saharan Africa. Excavations beginning in 1959 uncovered 9th-century bronze objects of extraordinary technical sophistication - predating any known bronze-casting in the region and demonstrating that complex metallurgical knowledge existed in this part of Nigeria over a thousand years ago. The Igbo-Ukwu bronzes are now displayed at the National Museum in Lagos and Abuja.
